Blazing a path forward as it steadily recovered from the pandemic, 2023 was a year of down-to-earth essentials and bold style statements that emphasized personal expression. While some designers preferred theatrics and escapism, or sought to channel pop culture, many focused on wearable essentials for the everyday man and woman.
In New York, Brandon Maxwell and Carolina Herrera embraced cosmopolitan elegance, while Tommy Hilfiger chased pop cultural relevance by channeling Warhol’s Factory. In Europe, we stepped into a fashion fantasies with Thom Browne,and were transported to bygone eras by Simone Rocha, Akris and Erdem. After a decade at the design helm, Jeremy Scott presented his final collection for Moschino. Designers from Badgley Mischka to Marissa Wilson brought us on fashion field-trips around the world.
